Laura Linney, best known for playing strong, yet fragile characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of today. Linney was born to a single, unmarried mother who was a nurse. She became interested in theatre during the summers spent by her famous father. She was a student of acting at Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Following her graduation, she launched her Broadway career. A few years later, she was she was on television. Since then, she has appeared in many films, TV plays and stage productions. During her career she received numerous awards including two Golden Globe Awards. But despite the many nominations and awards, her enthusiasm for theater is still there in her, and she performs onscreen and onstage.
