While I had one baby on me and others with me in the cradle was working 12 hour shifts sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! We were getting close to finishing, but we were a long way off. The home would require lots of time and a love to shop. My three sons and I were looking for the hidden treasures attending estate sales in order to reduce my expenses. Every week, we spent the week of Thursday through Saturday at garage sales and estate sales, buying old and new furniture. In the end, I repainted and smoothed in the driveway throughout the week. Furniture looked this way... which is the place I discovered my love to restore. Even after our house was furnished I couldn't put it down! There was a spot on the market in town where I would sell my items. It was possible to expand my space because I owned numerous pieces I needed. Over 1000 people visited my home over the course of a weekend, to shop for everything on the ground floor. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. The business wasn't just thriving but I was growing our family of four. I was balancing the demands of what it was like starting a new venture while also being a mommy. Growing Days just seemed to be the right fit. The year was 2013, and my lovely daughter Nora was born. She is our fourth baby. My business was going well but I was in need of a break. I decided to slow down and stay at home, spending time with my children. The time was right. It wasn't until a couple of months that the phones started to call. I was getting requests from people requesting to help with their home improvement as well as interior design. The majority of people who contacted me were people who had attended one of the furniture open house events. In the following months, I began to take on more clients, according to my own pace. Then I was able to have many customers and was operating as a home improvement business. Had you told me my venture would end up being an idea for the DIY Network show, I might have been astonished. In fact, I do smile when I think about the idea.
